Privacy policy
NFC.GUIDE measures its audience with Google Analytics, which sets two cookies in your browser and sends data about your visit to Google. Nothing else is collected and no personal information is asked for. A control on the cookie policy page stops the measurement for your browser, at any time.
Data controller
The data controller is SAS WAKDEV, registered under 814 822 417 R.C.S. DIJON. Full company details are on the legal notice page. Requests concerning personal data go through the about page.
Audience measurement
This site uses Google Analytics 4, a measurement service operated by Google. The script is loaded from googletagmanager.com and records which pages are read, how a visitor reached them, the approximate location derived from the IP address, and the browser and device family. The purpose is to tell which guides answer a real question from those nobody reads.
Two cookies carry the identifier that makes this possible, _ga and one whose name ends with the property identifier. Both are listed with their lifetimes in the cookie policy. The data collected is sent to Google and may be processed outside the European Union, which is covered in the section on transfers below.
No measurement identifier is combined with anything you type on this site, because the site asks for nothing. The search box filters an index already downloaded by your browser, and what you type in it is never transmitted.
You can refuse this measurement with the control on the cookie policy page. The refusal is recorded in your own browser and stops the script from sending anything from it.
This measurement was not present when the site opened. It was announced on this page and on the cookie policy before it was switched on.
Server logs
The hosting provider, Infomaniak Network SA, records technical access logs as any web server does. These typically contain the IP address of the request, the date and time, the page requested and the browser identification string. They exist to operate the service and to investigate incidents, and they are not used to build a profile or to track you across sites.
The legal basis is the legitimate interest of the publisher in keeping the site available and secure. Retention is governed by the hosting provider's own policy.
What your browser stores
Two values may be written to your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, they are never sent to any server, and they are readable only by this site.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| ng-theme | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme | Until you clear your browser data |
| ng-analytics-optout | Records your refusal of audience measurement and stops it for this browser | Until you clear your browser data |
Neither is written unless you act: the theme value appears when you use the theme button, the refusal value when you use the control on the cookie policy page. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain removes both.
Links to other sites
Guides link to external sources such as the NFC Forum, GS1 and manufacturer documentation, and to wakdev.com, nfc.cards and the two app stores. Once you follow such a link you are on a site with its own policy, over which this one has no control.
Apart from the Google Analytics script described above, no third party script, font, image or frame is loaded from this site. Everything else a page needs, including its stylesheet, its scripts and its images, is served from nfc.guide.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability regarding your personal data. Such a request will concern the audience measurement data held by Google and the access logs kept by the hosting provider, since this site stores nothing else about you.
Requests go through the about page. If you consider that your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French supervisory authority.
Transfers outside the European Union
The hosting provider is established in Switzerland, a country recognised by the European Commission as offering an adequate level of protection for personal data.
Data collected by the audience measurement is sent to Google and may be processed outside the European Union, including in the United States.
You can avoid this transfer entirely by refusing the measurement on the cookie policy page, which stops the script before it sends anything.
